“New” at Angels

We have more great news!  The long awaited cubicle shelving has been made and installed.  A huge thank you to Richard Wood – he donated his time to make the shelving at his workshop and deliver it.  With the help of Robert Britt, Allen Vass and Stan Hawkins, placement was an easy task!  Answered prayer.

Now you may wonder why the excitement for some cubicle shelves.  This may be one of those instances that you would have had to see “before” to really appreciate this significant difference.  In distant past, we folded jeans on long shelves – looked great in the beginning; however, as the shopping day went on, more and more of those jeans became mixed with other sizes on the shelf.  A stocker and customer headache!  Then about a year ago, we decided to hang and size.  That was an improvement as long as every customer returned the hanger to the right spot (more often than not that did not happen).  Mixed sizing along with twisted hangers and jeans falling to the floor . . . .  A long time idea has been to have cubicles built to accommodate the waist size for both men and women’s sections of jeans.

We were so pleased to hear the comments, “looks great!”, “thanks – that’s so much easier”, “wow, looks like a real store!”.  And we sold many, many more pair of jeans and dress pants Friday and Saturday!  The cubes have the size on each shelf – one row for jeans the next for dress pants of the same size.  Come on in and stock up jeans and dress pants - $1.00 a pair –awesome!  The men’s 2 row cubes are directly under the hanging shirts and sports coats.  An added perk – space for men’s hats and caps on top of the shelving.

We had 33 people attend the Volunteer meeting last Thursday.  I shared a passage from Luke – the sowing of the seeds:  As you recall, some Fell on Good soil – yielded a group 100 times more than was sown!  That’s us!!  Not any ONE of us but ALL of us!  Sure sometimes there is a weed, maybe even a thorn,  sometimes the path is trampled and, well, if you grow anything in Floyd you know we have “rocks”.   Nearly 12 years of operation– over $750,000!  This good soil has yielded 100 times what has been sown.  We are all a part of that - each of us and every one of those that have gone before us over these 12 years.

Volunteer meeting notes will be posted on our website.  There are some points to note:

·    beginning February 1 any item without a price and not listed on our generic price list will not be sold that day – it will be available the beginning of the next business day.  Our volunteers will make every effort to check the current inventory and get everything priced and remove yard sale stickers (a pricing which we do not honor).   We have borrowed this idea from Goodwill Thrift stores.  We are asking our shoppers to alert us if you find un-marked items in the store.  Truly we are all partners in this ministry.

·   We will begin sending email alerts to our customers of upcoming sales and specials.  You are invited to send your email address to kgboyd@swva.net to be included or sign up in the store.

·   We will end January sales with featured special of woven baskets, women’s blouses and sweat pants and sweat shirts.  On Friday and Saturday all baskets displayed will be priced at 25 cents, all blouses and sweats will be 50 cents.  After Saturday, these items will be removed from The Attic and the next week, these categories will have new to us merchandise.  Watch for February featured items.

We now have two dining room tables with extra leaves and one vintage round table with extra leaf (priced reduced).  We just added another 30+ coats to our inventory as well as winter hats, scarves, gloves and even insulated coveralls.  Our Men’s department is growing in popularity.  Work and dress clothes at rock bottom prices.  Jeans and dress pants:  $1.00; Dress shirt: $1.50, belts, ties, socks, pj’s, underwear – get a sports coat for $4.00 – the whole suit for $6.00!  Add shoes ($2.00) or boots ($3.00) – (generic price list is quoted here).

Angels’ Bounty returning on the third Wednesday of February!  Thanks to Allen Vass for his willingness to coordinate the setting up, the entertainment and the clean-up!  We hope all our volunteers will be back in full force as we reinstate this ministry.  God provides.

Have a great week – we’ll see you at the Attic!
