Angel’s Bounty

(A Social Ministry of Angel’s in the Attic providing socialization, entertainment and a nutritious meal)

The History

December 2007
Family calls to discuss the donation of $3,000 to begin another ministry within the realm of Angel’s in the Attic.  Donation received. Discussions began related to needs within our community.

January 2008
Donor family agrees to use the donation to start a meal program in Floyd County. Offer socialization, entertainment and a meal for those that might receive benefit from a nutritious meal with the opportunity to donate food (to be distributed to local food pantries) and the opportunity to donate funding. Food and monetary donations are encouraged but are not mandatory.   Churches and community offer monetary support.

February 2008
First Angel’s Bounty held at Floyd Baptist Church.
Served 100 meals - Received 98.5 lbs food and $139.00
In eleven(11) months (2008),  we served 2,055 meals, received 1,467.7 pounds of food and monetary donations (at event) have totaled $3,82.00.

Monetary donations from Churches and the Community at large provide funding.
Twelve to 20 volunteers assist with the event. Food is served wait style. Entertainers donate their time.

Angel’s Bounty continues with only a month or two cancelled related to weather through 2009, 2010 and 2011.  Some months 200 meals are served, more recently about 100.

The tables, with tablecloths and seasonal decorations (given as door prizes), are pre-set.  As attendees enter coffee, tea, lemonade and ice water are available.  Friends are made and renewed as we “catch-up”.  The entertainment, usually music, is donated by local talent.  Meals are purchased from Slaughter’s Deli and delivered by the local Lions Club.  Meals are served wait style (meat, two veggies, bread, dessert and beverage).  Extra meals are delivered to home bound neighbors by the attendees.

With decreased attendees (meals in 2010 averaged 110 per month), Angels’ Bounty will end with the December 21, 2011 meal.  To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven” . . . Ecclesiastes 3:1    We believe now is the season for other ministry expansion.

Floyd County Angels Ministries would like to thank the Floyd Baptist Church for use of their Fellowship Hall, the churches and people who have supported this ministry with monetary donations, those donating beautiful table decorations each month, those providing the entertainment and to everyone that has attended.  We have all experienced God’s presence as we have celebrated His gift of life and salvation!

Looking forward to 2012, we ask for your prayer as we seek God’s will and direction in our current ministries:  Angels in the Attic, Angels’ Boutique, Angels’ Guild, and those seeds of ideas that are being nurtured even now.

I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me"                          Matthew 25:40

 January 2012

Angels’ Bounty to return on the third Wednesday in February  (2/25/12)!!  Allan Vass, Pastor of Little River Baptist Church, has agreed to partner with current Bounty volunteers to re-start this ministry.  Vass will take responsibility for set-up, for securing entertainment, for clean-up and in general oversight!  Another witness that God provides (we just need to allow him to be in control).  We are indeed thankful.
